Making Periods Sustainable
Disposable period products can have a hugely detrimental impact on the environment, with most containing 90% and taking a 1000 years to decompose in landfill.
At PeriodsMatter we offer a wide variety of products and encourage those we support to use reusable and biodegradable products where appropriate. Many young people are becoming increasingly environmentally aware and many are now looking towards more sustainable products, to reduce the future environmental impact.
Our Seeing Red, Going Green project therefore seeks to educate individuals on environmentally friendly alternative to pads. This not only benefits the environment but also reduces the longterm cost of purchasing products which helps alleviate period poverty.
We will be running workshops to teach individuals how to make their own reusable pads. Each participant will leave with a full set of reusable pads (and instructions for washing) which will last them for at least 12 months
Details of our upcoming workshops will be published soon.
If you have a group who would be interested in participating, please contact us.
Making menstrual education available for everyone
We believe it is vitally important young people are educated around menstruation to ensure they can make informed decisions, understand their bodies, remove period stigma and encourage open and honest discussions about periods.
Our education programme for schools/colleges and community groups, is delivered by qualified trainers and is adapted to the particular requirements of the education establishment and the needs of those attending the workshops.
Whether you would welcome our input in school assemblies, need us to run in-depth sessions with an entire year group, or would like us to deliver a workshop on a specific issue, we can support.
